Criminal Investigation is part of the Automatic Multi-Biometric Identification System (AMBIS) which focuses on fingerprint and palm print forensics and identification. The system provides the user with sets of tools to help capture controlled or latent fingerprints. Criminal Investigation is intended to be used by investigators and individuals with some prior understanding of fingerprint identification techniques. The solution provides advanced image analysis and identification tools to allow the user to visualize images for fingerprint identification.
There are couples of existing systems for various biometric technology vendors designed specifically to or customized to work with their AFIS system. It is designed to be more flexible in terms of algorithm use. It uses standardized remote AFIS sdk modules giving it the flexibility to switch code finger finding and template generation technologies. It also tends to use and build assisting technologies for fingerprint identification into the system, removing the dependencies on specific features from various technology vendors such as center of mass computation, fingerprint binarization, partial image processing strategies etc.e used by investigators and individuals with some prior understanding of fingerprint identification techniques.
